One of the new diesels: After a visit to the supplier, we are expecting one of the 2 new diesels over the next 4-10 weeks. More announcements will be made on this site
Engines requiring substantial work and unlikely to be available by next update:
Mallard: Out of Service. requires work on middle driving wheel set.
Romulus: Boiler and valve gear work required, not expected in service during 2012
Tegen: Progressing, may be available for 2012 season, presently work on hand brake is underway.
Tulyar: Out of service, needs a replacement pump.
County of Kent: County of Kent has been stripped for parts to keep other Mardyke engines going, unlikely to return to service.
Redrum: Long term options being considered.
Montezuma: Boiler off-site being worked on.
Sir Goss: New Tender body designed, laser cut and waiting sticking together, the tender frame work is almost complete, work on the engine is likely to commence in the next few months. New bogies for the tender are also coming together.
Second New engines: An order for 2 new diesels has been placed for delivery by the 2012 season. Further information will be made available. These engines will be our new front line service diesels replacing the present life expired front line diesels. The first engine is expected over the next 6 weeks (see above) with this engine due several weeks\months later.
Nipa: A 4wd petrol hydraulic engine is under construction for use as the winter track laying engine. This engine is un-likely to see much in the way of passenger use. Nipa is based aroung the same chasis as Skipper but with a somewhat by design ugly body! Presently waiting axel sets. over 50% complete.
Mrs Darling Mrs Darling is an 0-4-2T tinkerbell style engine under construction. the link to build diary is available at the bottom of the page.
Under Construction
Green coach set: Bogies for green set are nearing completion, these coaches are expected into service mid to late 2012.
Enclosed coaches: The first enclosed coach is nearing completion with a metal roof now fitted. The second caoch may end up as an observation coach, and may use pieces from the old "holycombe" coach.
