Mallard at Spa Valley Railway

The SNBR's Mallard went on a weekend trip to Spa Valley to run on their line next to main station at Tonbridge Wells. Mallard was chosen due to the romulus not working properly and the line only being a short out and back line, the engine would not need to work hard (which with her injector problem at the time was essential). Mallard was run by the Owner a couple of the SNBR guards, who all took it turns to run up and down the line, racing the big engines while they shunted and giving rides to the public. The engine managed to work well for the weekend, and hopefully generated some money to the Sutton overhaul, which is being carried out in the main depot. Sutton is a terrier class engine, and was moved over from the K&ESR. On the Sunday Mallard was double headed with a verticle boiler engine, which was suffering from broken chain problems and failed to run the whole day, but we managed to get the important picture of the two of them double heading.
a big thank you to spa valley for their hospitality and I really enjoyed the weekend.
