In 2000/2001 the railway looked into turning Redrum into a Battery Electric Multiple Unit (BEMU), and although never taken forward the idea of a 2 car multiple unit
remained. After many false starts, an idea occured of re-using the old eaton hydrostatic pump that was originally used on Tegen. This powered from a small
single cylinder diesel engine, would be an ideal power unit for two coaches.
The project is now the brain child of the railway's CME, who as the picture above shows has completed the power bogie. The DMU remains a work in progress project, when
time is available (i.e. when the Mardykes do not need fixing).
